The History Behind The Building

The building that Walkers now lives in has a long history in the Riverside community. Originally built in 1929, the property and structure that you see today was one of Riverside's first gas stations. Standard Oil first occupied the space and served the area from 1929 to 1938. Up until recent years, the building has always served in the automotive industry. Jump ahead many decades to 2006, Scott McAlister acquired the property to house his building company's offices, SWM Builders. In 2008, Scott could visualize the potential of the structure and created what is now Walkers, which opened its doors in 2009. Modeling the design after other big city urban designs, he created a sophisticated yet casual environment that displayed the beauty of the original structure. The exposed beamed ceiling, the original brick walls, and the rustic concrete floors all give a little essence of the history of the 1929 property.
